Why RNS Academy

Selecting a Preschool for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent can make.  RNS Academy provides a safe, warm, and caring environment for children to play, learn, and make new friends. Each child, while experiencing the benefits of group activity is helped to progress at his/her own pace. This is accomplished through individual attention by our professionally trained and certified staff.

The following are the procedures we follow at the school. We ask that you keep it handy for quick references. If there is something that needs further explaining please feel free to contact the school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Tuition is due on or before the 1st of each month.

Specific information regarding arrival and dismissal procedures will be emailed before the first day of school. Arrival times will be staggered for each class, beginning at 9:00 am. Before care drop off is between 7:00am and 8:30am. 

Please do not line-up outside before your scheduled time.

Depending on your child’s schedule, dismissal times are as follows: 12:30pm, 2:00pm, 3:30pm and 4:30pm. Please be prompt for pick-up. (Parents arriving more than five minutes late for pick up will be charged a late fee of $1/per minute.) Please call ahead and let us know when you are running late.

Extended day begins at 7:00 am and ends at 4:30pm.

Unscheduled before care and aftercare,  is available and easily arranged. Please do your best to call or email 24 hours in advance to make arrangements. (Before and aftercare: $15/per hour).

Our doors remain locked at all times. Parents are always welcome. (In observance of the Office of Licensing’s COVID guidelines, parents are required to drop off at the door). 

For the safety of all children, please follow proper procedures when dropping-off and picking-up your child.

Please contact us in writing, at least 24 hours prior, if someone other than yourself will be picking up your child. If this is a last-minute change, please notify us by phone before your child’s pick-up time. ID is required before we can release your child.

Please call the school if your child will be absent, and let us know the reason for said absence.

Children who have had any communicable illness must return with a doctor’s note stating they are able to return to school (see Health Guidelines for specifics).

All snow closing or weather delays typically follow Waldwick Board of Education closings. News 12 reports Waldwick Board of Education closings. In the event of a delayed opening, drop-off will begin at 10am. Closings not following Waldwick will be announced through email. 

All children must have a complete change of clothing sent to school in a labeled ziplock bag and a smock for painting in a labeled ziplock bag. Please label all items clearly in each bag.

Full-day children ages 2.5 to 4 need sleep sacks for a nap. Please label sleep sack. All sacks will go home on Friday for laundering.

Parents must provide lunch for children staying until 12:30.

Lunch may also be ordered through the Whistle Stop.

Please send items that do not need to be heated, no glass containers, please. Include utensils when necessary.

For birthday parties, parents may send-in a small snack such as cupcakes or cookies. Email your teacher to arrange date and remember to ask about allergies in class.

Absolutely no toys are allowed in school unless part of a school-related event.
